Maharashtra Mumbai Coronavirus News Live Updates: In an attempt to break the chain of the Covid-19 infection, a 10-day lockdown has been enforced in Thane district beginning Friday. The move comes after five municipal corporations in Thane district, including Thane Municipal Corporation, Mira Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivali and Ulhasnagar, had announced a similar lockdown in their areas.

Maharashtra crossed a million mark in testing with 10,20,368 Covid-19 tests conducted until Thursday. It crossed the one lakh mark in recording recoveries too. Till Thursday, 1,01,172 lakh people had been treated and discharged.

Maharashtra also recorded 6,330 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, its highest count of cases in a single day, taking the total to 1,86,626. The last highest count was recorded on June 27. The state also recorded its highest count of those recovered and discharged on Thursday with 8,018 discharged from across all districts. In all 125 deaths were reported taking the state toll to 8,178.

With nearly 21,000 casees, India has registered its biggest single-day jump in the number of coronavirus cases. The tally now stands at 627,168 and 18,225 people have died from the disease. Maharashtra, the worst-hit state recorded 6,330 new cases in a day, taking its tally to 186,626, while Mumbai's total number of coronavirus cases jumped to 80,262. Delhi saw 2,373 fresh Covid cases, taking its tally to 92,000. With a single-day all-time high of 4,343 fresh coronavirus cases, Tamil Nadu tally reached 98,392..
